Overview

Mississippi legalized medical cannabis in February 2022 (the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act). The Mississippi State Department of Health licenses cultivation, processing, testing, transportation, disposal and research businesses, while the Department of Revenue licenses dispensaries.

Unlike many medical states, Mississippi doesn't cap the number of licenses. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, which makes it one of the more open medical markets in the South.
