Our mission
MarijuanaLicense.com helps entrepreneurs, patients and professionals understand cannabis licensing and medical card rules in every U.S. state. We're an independent informational resource. We aren't a government agency, a law firm or a medical provider, and our guides aren't legal or medical advice.
How we research
Every state guide and article starts with primary sources: state statutes, administrative rules, regulator websites, official fee schedules and published agency reports. Where official sources are incomplete, we use reputable secondary sources such as established news outlets, law firm client alerts and industry trade publications, and we say so.
We list the sources we used at the bottom of each guide so you can check them yourself.
How we verify
Before a guide is marked complete, we check fees, license types, application windows, caps and moratoriums against the regulator's own materials. Each state guide shows a Last verified date. When we can't confirm a detail, such as a current patient card fee, we tell you to check the official program instead of guessing.
How we keep guides current
Cannabis rules change often. We review state guides regularly and update them when we learn of new laws, rule changes, application windows or fee changes. Time-sensitive details, such as license rounds or launch dates, are noted with the date they were reported.
Corrections
If you spot an error or outdated information, please tell us through our contact page. We review every report, correct confirmed errors promptly and update the guide's verified date.
Independence and how we make money
We may earn revenue from advertising, sponsored listings and referral fees when we connect readers with licensing professionals. Sponsored content and paid placements are clearly labeled. Advertisers and partners don't decide what we write, how we rank states or what our guides say about any law or program.
Who writes our guides
Guides are written and maintained by the MarijuanaLicense.com Editorial Team. We're working to add review by licensed cannabis attorneys and compliance consultants, and reviewed guides will show the reviewer's name and credentials.
Always confirm with the state
Laws, fees and application procedures can change quickly. Before you apply, sign a lease or invest, confirm current requirements with the state regulator and talk with a qualified attorney or licensing professional. See our disclaimer for more.
